New SPN mentorship program for Victorian members
A new Small Press Network (SPN) program will match six Victoria-based SPN members with established publishing professionals for a year-long mentorship.
SPN general manager Matthia Dempsey told Books+Publishing ‘many small publishers enter the industry because they have a particular passion for a subject or understand a niche audience, but they do not necessarily have all the foundational publishing skills necessary to ensure their business is sustainable’.
‘The program has been created to help mentees build their skills across all areas of publishing so that they can build a sustainable enterprise,’ said Dempsey. ‘It’s a great initiative by my predecessor Mary Masters and I look forward to seeing the results.’
The program, which has funding from Creative Victoria, will culminate in a publication launch at the Melbourne Writers Festival. Applications close on 31 May. For more information, click here.
