Walter Scott Prize 2024 shortlist announced

In the UK, the shortlist for the Walter Scott Prize for Historical Fiction, worth £25,000 (A$48,000), has been announced.
Chosen from a longlist announced in February, the titles shortlisted for the award are:
- The New Life (Tom Crewe, Vintage)
- Hungry Ghosts (Kevin Jared Hosein, Bloomsbury)
- My Father’s House (Joseph O’Connor, Vintage)
- In the Upper Country (Kai Thomas, John Murray)
- Absolutely and Forever (Rose Tremain, Chatto & Windus)
- The House of Doors (Tan Twan Eng, Canongate).
The winner will be announced in June.
