Bunurong writer Bruce Pascoe has won the Australia Council Award for Lifetime Achievement in Literature.
The Australia Council Award for Lifetime Achievement in Literature ‘acknowledges the achievements of eminent literary writers over the age of 60 who have made an outstanding and lifelong contribution to Australian literature’.

The Australia Council Awards annually recognise outstanding and sustained contributions by Australian artists in music, literature, community arts and cultural development (CACD), emerging and experimental arts, visual arts, theatre and dance.
‘The recipients of the 2018 awards are leaders in their respective fields,’ said Australia Council CEO Tony Grybowski. ‘They have individually and collectively made highly significant contributions to the development of artistic practice and to challenging existing ways of exploring how we express identity and how we connect with one another … it is essential that we celebrate and support the rich and diverse artistic talent we are fortunate to have,’ he said.
The recipients will be honoured during a ceremony in Sydney on Tuesday, 6 March.
