‘The Dry’ longlisted for Theakston Crime Novel of the Year

Jane Harper has been longlisted for the UK’s Theakston Old Peculier Crime Novel of the Year Award for her debut The Dry (Pan).

Also longlisted for the £3000 (A$5500) prize are:

  • The Accident on the A35 (Graeme Macrae Burnet, Text)
  • You Don’t Know Me (Imran Mahmood, Michael Joseph)
  • Insidious Intent (Val McDermid, Sphere)
  • The Long Drop (Denise Mina, Vintage)
  • A Rising Man (Abir Mukherjee, Harvill Secker)

The prize is open to UK and Irish crime authors—Harper is British-bornwhose novels were published in paperback from 1 May 2017 to 30 April 2018.

The shortlist will be announced on 27 May, followed by the announcement of the winner on 19 July, on the opening night of the 16th Theakston Old Peculier Crime Writing Festival in Harrogate.

As previously reported by Books+Publishing, Chris Brookmyre’s novel Black Widow (Little, Brown), won the 2017 Theakston Old Peculier Crime Novel of the Year Award.
