Schultz takes on publisher role at ‘Griffith Review’; Hay becomes editor
Griffith Review has announced that editor Julianne Schultz will take on the role of publisher at the quarterly publication, alongside a position as Professor of Media and Culture at Griffith University’s Centre for Social and Cultural Research.
Schultz, who has been editor at Griffith Review for 15 years, says the academic position will allow her to ‘pursue the writing and research that was not possible while managing the production of four editions of Griffith Review each year’.
Journalist, author and editor Ashley Hay will take over the role of editor of Griffith Review. Hay is the author of four books of narrative nonfiction and three novels, the most recent of which is A Hundred Small Lessons (A&U). She has also received and been shortlisted for various prizes for her science writing, journalism, essays and short fiction, including the Bragg UNSW Press Prize for Science Writing in 2016.
Schultz said she was ‘delighted’ that Hay will take on the role of editor. ‘Over the years we have published many works by Ashley and indeed several of her award-winning novels grew out of shorter pieces she wrote for Griffith Review,’ said Schultz. ‘Ashley is not only a skilled and respected writer and presenter, but her intelligence, rigour and decency mean I have every confidence that she will maintain the best traditions of Griffith Review as it adapts to an ever-changing world.’
