Melbourne writers, literary organisations receive council arts grants

Several writers and literary organisations have received a share of more than $830,000 in funding from the City of Melbourne as part of its annual arts grants program.

Writers Victoria was awarded a project grant for its Only Connect digital residencies, which will award six-month, digital residencies to two Victorian writers who are also primary carers.

Other successful applicants in the literature category include Australian Poetry for its 2018 OutLoud Eco!Slam program; Sticky Institute for its Festival of the Photocopier Zine Fair; and literary journal Going Down Swinging for travel expenses.

A number of individuals were also awarded funding, including Christopher Bryant for an arts residency at the Boyd Garret Writers Studio; Fiona Clarke for a project called ‘The Rainbow Serpent is Coming’; and Meg Mundell for a project called ‘We Are Here: Stories of Home, Place and Belonging’.
