Hardie Grant acquires book based on podcast ‘The Full Catastrophe’

Hardie Grant Books has acquired world rights to The Full Catastrophe, based on the podcast of the same name, via Jeanne Ryckmans at Cameron Cresswell Agency.

Edited by podcast hosts Rebecca Huntley, a social researcher, and Sarah MacDonald, a journalist, The Full Catastrophe is a collection of the podcast’s best stories, as well as some new material, in which contributors share ‘personal stories of when they were involved in a domestic drama, career cockup or just a run-of-the-mill disaster, when events were so bad they became funny’. The Full Catastrophe will feature contributions from Emma Alberici, Frank Moorehouse, Juanita Phillips, Larissa Behrendt and Richard Glover.

Publisher Arwen Summers says: ‘There’s something deeply reassuring in knowing that everyone has days when the wheels well and truly fall off, and this collection of real-life catastrophes is the tonic for those moments. I’m delighted to be publishing this hilarious and diverse collection of great Australian nonfiction.’

The Full Catastrophe will be published in May 2019.
