Big Sky lands 17-book deal for US rights
Big Sky Publishing has sold North American and US territories rights to 17 children’s book titles to independent educational publishing house Rosen Publishing.
Set in motion at the 2018 Frankfurt Book Fair, the 17-book deal includes picture book Cat Spies Mouse (Rina Foti, illus by Dave Atze) and three junior fiction series: Poppy Inkwell’s Alana Oakley series (three books), Cameron McIntosh’s ‘Max Booth Future Sleuth’ series (illus by Dave Atze, four books released plus two forthcoming), and the forthcoming ‘Nursery Crimes’ mystery series (John Barwick, illus by Dave Atze), which comprises seven titles with the first due to be published in Australia in August.
Big Sky Publishing’s head of its children’s division, Diane Evans, said the deal is proof that ‘the belief that we have in our talented authors and illustrator teams is shared beyond our local market’.
‘To be kicking goals with our Aussie books in a competitive market like America is a terrific endorsement. We have 17 fun, clever books with strong, feisty characters that children can really get behind and love. To have three series included in that mix is invigorating,’ said Evans.
