Lost in Books to host IBBY Honour Books exhibition

Multilingual children’s bookshop Lost in Books, situated in the Sydney suburb of Fairfield, is hosting the International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY) Best Books of the World Exhibition, a collection of 191 honour books from 60 countries and 50 languages, from 9–18 May.

It’s the first time the IBBY Honour Books have visited Australia. The exhibition will also display the complete collection of all 48 books honoured by the Australian chapter of IBBY since 1962.

Three events will be held over the course of the exhibition: the event launch, with IBBY Australia honour books coordinator Robin Morrow, who spoke about how books bridge worlds and the process of selecting an honour book; an educator’s evening on 14 May with creative artist Rachel Jacobs, who will present a selection of the texts from the exhibition and give practical tips on how to use multilingual books in the classroom; and a family event on the afternoon of 18 May for activities and a multilingual storytime.
