Canberra Writers Festival 2019 program launched
Canberra Writers Festival has announced the full line-up of guest speakers for its festival program, which runs under the theme ‘power, politics and passion’ from 21–25 August.
Over 160 authors and guests will appear at 80 events at venues including the National Museum of Australia (NMA), the Museum of Australian Democracy (MoAD), the National Library of Australia (NLA) and University House at the Australian National University (ANU).
Highlights of the program include Stephanie Alexander in conversation with Malcolm Farr, with a dinner menu prepared by Alexander; former prime minister Kevin Rudd in conversation with David Speers; a panel on the vision for Australia’s future with David Fagan, Laura Tingle, Katharine Murphy and George Megalogenis; and a discussion of the sentencing and subsequent appeal of George Pell with David Marr and Louise Milligan.
The festival is the first under festival director Paul Donohoe.
Bookstores for the festival are Dymocks Belconnen at MoAD and NMA, Harry Hartog at ANU, while NLA will run its own bookstore.
