UK sales of Booker Prize longlisted titles up nearly 200%

In the UK, the titles longlisted for the Booker Prize sold a combined 4740 copies according to Nielsen BookScan, up 198% on the week before the announcement, reports the Bookseller.

Oyinkan Braithwaite’s My Sister, the Serial Killer (Atlantic) was the biggest seller in the week following the announcement, with 929 copies sold in hardback—a 99% jump on the week before.

Valeria Luiselli’s Lost Children Archive (Fourth Estate) had the most dramatic rise in sales, up 852% from 21 copies in the week before the announcement to 200.

Last year’s winner, Anna Burns’ Milkman (Faber) has sold more than 220,000 copies across all print editions, after having sold 5619 copies before the mid-October 2018 announcement.

The shortlist will be announced on 3 September, with the winner to be announced on 14 October.
