Booked Out launches virtual visits with Copyright Agency funding
The speakers agency Booked Out has received funding from the Copyright Agency’s Covid-19 emergency funding to run a new project during Term two.
‘Reaching Out’ is a discrete project that will offer a range of online sessions for primary and secondary students.
Booked Out’s Madeline Crehan told Books+Publishing the agency’s speakers had been asked to design new sessions specially tailored for online delivery during Term two. ‘The sessions are a little shorter than the usual 60 minute in-person sessions speakers normally offer, and incorporate activities that can easily be undertaken at home with simple equipment like a pencil and paper. The topics covered by our speakers are really varied depending on the speaker, but Reaching Out sessions include writing and illustration workshops, motivational talks, and curriculum-based talks for senior secondary students, among many others.’
These online sessions will be offered at a reduced price, with some exceptions. Crehan said that as well as being designed to engage students creatively while they learn outside the classroom, the Reaching Out project was designed ‘to keep authors and illustrators working during the Covid-19 pandemic’.
‘While we hope to go back to booking speakers for in-person sessions when it’s safe to do so, for now we hope Reaching Out will provide speakers with vital income while schools are closed.’
More information about the Reaching Out project can be found on the Booked Out website.
