Canberra Writers Festival 2020 program launched
The Canberra Writers Festival, which will run from 12 to 16 August, has launched its 2020 program.
In a statement, the festival said artistic director Jeanne Ryckmans’ program would be a mix of live and virtual events including authors being ‘beamed from across Australia and the globe’.
Among the writers scheduled to appear are international guests Gloria Steinem, Alain de Botton, Elizabeth Gilbert, Simon Winchester, Colum McCann and William Dalrymple, and local authors including Paul Kelly, Barry Jones, Dervla McTiernan, Julia Baird and 2020 Stella Prize winner Jess Hill.
For the opening night, chef Adam Liaw ‘has carte blanche to devise his own “Hangman’s Supper” and converse—between mouthfuls—with Joanna Savill about the inspiration behind this specially curated Last Supper’. Meanwhile, the organisers said Insiders Live with David Speers, Katharine Murphy, Niki Savva and Mark Kenny will be a ‘guaranteed sell-out’.
