OzAsia Festival announces new writing and ideas program

OzAsia Festival has launched a new writing and ideas program, In Other Words.

Held annually in Adelaide, OzAsia Festival runs from 21 October to 7 November, with In Other Words taking place on the festival’s closing weekend (5–7 November) at Adelaide Festival Centre’s Dunstan Playhouse.

The program is curated by Laura Kroetsch, joined by writer and broadcaster Benjamin Law and Indian Australian author Roanna Gonsalves as guest curators.

In Other Words will bring together 40 of Asia and Australia’s best contemporary writers and thinkers to engage in conversations around power, identity, community, grief, resistance, and more. The line-up features Adam Liaw, Hetty McKinnon, Larissa Behrendt, Amani Haydar, Marc Fennell, Jennifer Wong and Oliver Phommavanh, among others.

Of the program, Kroetsch says, ‘We are delighted to present the inaugural In Other Words as part of OzAsia Festival 2021. It’s going to be an exciting snapshot of Australia in the Asia-Pacific, and we’ll be exploring some of the key issues here at home and across the region.’

Due to interstate travel restrictions, In Other Words will have many speakers joining via video link with moderators appearing on stage to host each session.
