Supply chain chaos, Melbourne Prize for Literature winners

Booksellers on Australia’s east coast are reporting serious delivery delays, missing deliveries and damaged stock, with reports that the problems are particularly acute in Queensland.

The ABA will hold its 2022 conference in Sydney from 12–13 June, while the program for the BAD Sydney Crime Writers Festival—to be held in-person from 2–5 December—has been announced.

The winner of this year’s Melbourne Prize for Literature, ASA Medal, Helen Anne Bell Poetry Bequest Award—the country’s richest poetry prize—and the inaugural Speculate Prize and Liminal & Pantera Press Nonfiction Prize have all been announced. This week Varuna announced the recipients and finalists for two fellowship programs, while the shortlist for the Voss Literary Prize was revealed and a handful of Australians were nominated for the UK’s Carnegie and Kate Greenaway medals.

Findaway, a day before fellow Swedish company Storytel revealed it’s buying Audiobooks.com from RBmedia. UK-based retailer WHSmith is eyeing a return to profitability despite posting its second-consecutive year of losses, and the winners of the Goldsmiths and Giller prizes have been announced.
