TikTok Shop UK launches books category

TikTok Shop UK has launched a new books category to enable users to buy titles from partner organisations via the social media platform, reports the Bookseller.

Partner organisations at launch include HarperCollins UK, W H Smith, Bloomsbury and Bookshop.org.

TikTok Shop ecommerce senior director Patrick Nommensen told the Bookseller: ‘With these new partnerships, we’re delighted to be making it even easier for book lovers to buy the latest BookTok recommendations without ever leaving the TikTok platform, while also providing new avenues for publishers both large and small to reach their audiences. We look forward to welcoming more merchants to TikTok Shop UK in the future, as our platform continues to evolve as the ultimate destination for books and literature.’

Bookshop.org managing director Nicole Vanderbilt said it was a great opportunity ‘not only to give BookTokers and their communities another way to buy from their local independent through Bookshop.org, but also to help booksellers enhance their own BookTok skills’.

Earlier this month, the Bookseller named BookTok its FutureBook’s Person of the Year in recognition of its users’ influence on book sales over the past year.
