PANZ Book Design Awards 2023 finalists announced
The finalists for the 2023 Publishers Association of New Zealand (PANZ) Book Design Awards have been announced.
Finalists were announced in 10 categories including:
Best Illustrated Book
- Cape to Bluff (Simon Devitt, Andrea Stevens & Luke Scott, Simon Devitt Photographer), designed by Luke Scott & Milly Scott
- Declaration: A Pacific feminist agenda (ed by Ane Tonga, Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki), designed by Philip Kelly

Emerging designer

- Jean Donaldson for Tiaki: A shout-out to Aotearoa’s lesser-known creatures (Jean Donaldson, Potton & Burton).
The winners in all categories, including the Gerard Reid Award for Best Book overall prize, will be announced on 21 September in Auckland, where attendees will also be able to vote for the People’s Choice Award.
The PANZ Book Design Workshop will be held the following day, providing the opportunity for attendees to discuss the awards, listen to panel sessions and network with peers.
