Indigenous Literacy Day today

Booksellers, publishers and the book community celebrate Indigenous Literacy Day today. Last year the event contributed to the Indigenous Literacy Foundation (ILF) raising $550,000. The ILF hopes to achieve $600,000 in 2012. According to the ILF’s new 2013-2017 Program Strategy, all funds raised this year will go towards a new focus on early literacy and book supply. Results of an evaluation of the ILF, conducted by Queensland academics, will be released this month. For more information visit www.indigenousliteracyfoundation.org.au.
