Hurley wins ‘ABR’ Elizabeth Jolley Short Story Prize
Sue Hurley has won the 2012 Australian Book Review (ABR) Elizabeth Jolley Short Story Prize for her story ‘Patterns in Nature’.
Hurley was presented with the $5000 first place prize on 26 September in Melbourne. Jack Cox won second place, worth $2000, for his story ‘Gorgeous Perambulator’ and Ngiare Elliot won third place, worth $1000, for her story ‘Tended by Foxes’. The three winning stories are published in the October issue of ABR.
The ABR Elizabeth Jolley Short Story Prize is presented annually to short stories of between 2000 and 5000 words written by Australian citizens or permanent residents. In 2011, the prize was shared by Carrie Tiffany and Gregory Day.
