Book Face opens store in Northbridge, NSW

Bookselling chain Book Face has opened its fifth store—a bookstore in the Sydney suburb of Northbridge.

Store manager Luke Holmes said that the company opened a bookstore in the area because ‘Northbridge is a sought-after suburb that appeals to many for good reason’, and that the new shop’s location in Northbridge Plaza provides ‘great visibility and proximity to other businesses’ within ‘a bustling hive of activity’. ‘We immediately felt the lovely sense of community here and we have felt incredibly welcomed by the locals since opening our doors last month,’ Holmes added.

The new bookstore stocks titles across genres including literary and popular fiction, nonfiction, biography, lifestyle, young adult fiction and children’s literature, and books on food and wine, photography, philosophy, architecture, history, science, business and self-development, as well as stationery, gifts and cards. ‘I would say we do have particularly strong crime, fiction and children’s sections,’ said Holmes, ‘as our customers include a lot of families and crime/literature buffs!’

Holmes attributed the positive reception of the new store to ‘having friendly, knowledgeable staff and ensuring that we have a great range of books to suit their personal preferences, gift options, and community events’.

Among these early community events, since opening last month, the shop has hosted several local authors for signings and events, while Holmes said that more such events would be part of the shop’s ‘healthy calendar of events including author launches and signings, a book club, and regular kids’ story-time session’.
