Allen & Unwin, Australia’s leading independent book publisher, has an opening for a full-time editor in our books for children and young adults team.

You will manage the production of picture books, illustrated junior fiction, young adult fiction and nonfiction, from manuscript to printed book, and will carry out structural editing, copy-editing and proofreading. You will have excellent spelling, grammar and punctuation, a fine attention to detail, proficiency editing on-screen in Microsoft Word, and confidence in learning new processes. You’ll need to be highly organised and able to juggle diverse tasks while remaining calm, friendly and professional, with the ability to work with a range of personalities.

A passion for children’s and YA books is essential, and preference will be given to applicants with direct in-house experience in children’s publishing across a range of formats.

This role will be based in our Melbourne office. Some flexibility around remote working may be possible.
