Walkley Book Award 2024 longlist announced

The Walkley Foundation has announced the finalists for the 69th annual Walkley Awards for Excellence in Journalism.

The works longlisted for the Walkley Book Award are:

  • Bright Shining (Julia Baird, Fourth Estate)
  • Nuked: The Submarine Fiasco that Sank Australia’s Sovereignty (Andrew Fowler, MUP)
  • Unconventional Women (Sarah Gilbert, MUP)
  • Mine is the Kingdom (David Hardaker, A&U)
  • Slick: Australia’s Toxic Relationship with Big Oil (Royce Kurmelovs, UQP)
  • Crimes of the Cross: The Anglican Paedophile Network of Newcastle, Its Protectors and the Man Who Fought for Justice (Anne Manne, Black Inc.)
  • The Lasting Harm (Lucia Osborne-Crowley, A&U)
  • The Lady Vanishes (Alison Sandy, Bryan Seymour, Sally Eeles & Marc Wright, HarperCollins)
  • The Teacher’s Pet (Hedley Thomas, Macmillan).

The shortlist will be announced on 31 October, with the winners to be announced on 19 November.
