In the UK, travel bookseller WH Smith has announced its total revenue in its travel category was up 11% for the year ended 31 August 2024.
In its preliminary results announcement, the retailer said total group revenue was up 7% to £1,918 million (A$3,744m), up from £1,793 million (A$3,500m) the previous year.
Total revenue in travel was up 18% for markets outside of the US and UK. In Australia, revenue was £83 million (A$162m), up from £82 million (A$160m) in 2023.
Announcing the preliminary results, WH Smith said it had a ‘new store pipeline of over 90 stores won and yet to open’, approximately 60 of these in North America, which group chief executive Carl Cowling called ‘our most exciting opportunity for growth’.
