Picador to publish two Clive James poetry collections

In the UK, Picador has acquired a new collection of poetry from Clive James called Sentenced to Life to be released in April 2015, reports the Bookseller. The collection will contain the author’s most recent poems and James will promote the titles ‘as much as his health allows’. James, who has cancer, said: ‘In Sentenced to Life are the poems I have been writing in this later part of my life when I have felt short of time, but even more keen to register the variety of the world.’ Picador will also publish Poetry Notebook 2006-2014 in October 2014 to coincide with James’ 75th birthday. Picador poetry editor Don Paterson said that both books combine ‘critical ruthlessness and good humour’ and represent James’ ‘finest poetic work to date’.
