Penguin Random House Canada distribution to merge

Distribution for Penguin Canada books will move from Pearson Canada’s warehouse in Newmarket, Ontario, to Random House’s Canada warehouses, reports Publishers Weekly. The move is expected to take place in February 2015 and will result in ‘some job losses’ for employees at the Newmarket warehouse, according to a statement from Penguin Random House Canada. In a previous interview with Publishers Weekly, Penguin Canada president and publisher Nicole Winstanley said that Penguin Canada has ‘great relationships with the people at Pearson, but Random House is a trade publisher and therefore we’re streamlining trade systems’. Earlier this month, Penguin Random House New Zealand announced that the Random House distribution centre in Auckland would close at the end of March 2015, and that after this closure ‘all Random House and Penguin titles will be distributed out of United Book Distributors in Australia’.
