Malaysia Airlines victims honoured in condolence books at SLV
Around 1200 pages of condolence messages have been bound into three books and handed to the State Library of Victoria (SLV) during a national memorial service on 24 September, reports the Herald Sun.
The Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777 crashed in the Ukraine on 17 July, killing all 298 people on board. Melbourne was chosen to host the national memorial service because 17 of the 38 Australian citizens and residents killed were from Victoria.
Family members of Victorian MH17 victims received replicas of the books during the handover ceremony, which was attended by Premier Denis Napthine and Opposition Leader Daniel Andrews.
The condolence books will be preserved in a climate-controlled facility at the library and will be available for the public to view.
