Hachette signs multi-book deal with FitzSimons

Hachette Australia has announced it has signed a ‘multi-book publishing deal’ with bestselling nonfiction author Peter FitzSimons.

‘This signing reunites Peter with one of his very first publishers, Hachette’s Non-Fiction Publisher Matthew Kelly, and sees him return to Hachette Australia, home of Peter’s bestselling Kokoda,’ the publisher said in a statement.

FitzSimons’ most recent books, including Gallipoli, Mawson and Batavia, were published by Random House.

FitzSimons said in the statement: ‘Australian publishing is a small pond and I have been splashing around in it for many a year now—and loving it. My book on Kokoda is with Hachette, and it has been my biggest commercial success. I look forward to working with Matthew Kelly and the team to create magnificent stories and sell even more books!’

Hachette said it ‘will publish the first as-yet untitled book in this new deal in 2017, after two further books from Penguin Random House in 2015 and 2016’.
