Inaugural Queenscliffe Literary Festival to celebrate ‘The Australian Landscape’
The inaugural Queenscliffe Literary Festival will be held across five weekends in May in the Victorian beachside towns of Queenscliff and Point Lonsdale.
The not-for-profit festival is being organised by Bookshop at Queenscliff owner Marylou Gilbert and editor Alice Barker as an adjunct to the Queenscliffe Borough’s annual ‘Sea of Words’ event. The festival’s theme is ‘The Australian Landscape’.
Keynote speaker Geraldine Doogue will launch the event on 2 May in conversation with Wheeler Centre director Michael Williams, discussing the topic ‘The Australian Landscape in the Media’. Other authors on the line-up include Barrie Cassidy, Favel Parrett, Sian Prior, Hannie Rayson, Andrew Rule, Jock Serong, Craig Sherborne and chef Ben Shewry.
The festival also features a free children’s day, where 11 authors and illustrators will talk about creative writing, artwork and imagination with students at three Queenscliffe schools and a kindergarten.
