Inky Awards 2015 longlists announced
The longlists for the 2015 Inky Awards have been announced. The awards are presented by the Centre for Youth Literature at the State Library of Victoria for local and international fiction, poetry, anthologies and graphic novels written for young adults.
The titles longlisted for the Gold Inky Award (for an Australian book) are:
- Nona & Me (Clare Atkins, Black Inc.)
- Head of the River (Pip Harry, UQP)
- The Other Side of Nowhere (Steve Johnston, Hardie Grant Egmont)
- The Incredible Adventures of Cinnamon Girl (Melissa Keil, Hardie Grant Egmont)
- Razorhurst (Justine Larbalestier, A&U)
- The Astrologer’s Daughter (Rebecca Lim, Text)
- Clariel (Garth Nix, A&U)
- Laurinda (Alice Pung, Black Inc.)
- The Intern (Gabrielle Tozer, HarperCollins)
- The Protected (Claire Zorn, UQP)
The titles longlisted for the Silver Inky Award (for an international book) are:
- The Impossible Knife of Memory (Laurie Halse Anderson, Text)
- Bird (Crystal Chan, Text)
- Spark (Rachael Craw, Walker Books)
- Half Bad (Sally Green, Penguin)
- We Were Liars (E Lockhart, A&U)
- Since You’ve Been Gone (Morgan Matson, S&S)
- Fangirl (Rainbow Rowell, Macmillan)
- Grasshopper Jungle (Andrew Smith, Hardie Grant Egmont)
- Afterworlds (Scott Westerfeld, Penguin)
- Noggin (John Corey Whaley, S&S).
Shortlists of five books in each category will be announced in August and voting, which is open to members of the public aged between 12 and 20, will run throughout August until 27 September. Winners will be announced on 13 October, with the Australian book that receives the most votes to win the Gold Inky and a cash prize, and the international book that receives the most votes to win the Silver Inky.
