In the US, Harlequin has announced the launch of an audiobook imprint Harlequin Audio, reports Publishers Weekly. The imprint plans to release 200 audio titles in its first year, beginning 30 June. Harlequin Audio will work with the audio unit at HarperCollins to distribute digital audiobooks to the retail and library markets, and will distribute CDs through Blackstone Audio and Midwest Tape. Harlequin publisher and CEO Craig Swinwood said, ‘The audio format has been experiencing tremendous growth recently and Harlequin authors will benefit greatly from this new distribution outlet.’ As previously reported by Books+Publishing, HarperCollins’ parent company News Corp acquired Harlequin from Torstar Corporation in 2014.
