Kay Craddock receives Melbourne Lord Mayor commendation

Kay Craddock Antiquarian Booksellers has been included in this year’s Melbourne Lord Mayor’s Commendations program, which recognises the city’s iconic, long-running small businesses. Owner Kay Craddock will be awarded a gold commendation for her 40-plus years as proprietor. Craddock first opened the Essendon Treasure Chest in 1965 with her parents Les and Muriel, selling books, antiques and handicrafts, before opening her city store on Bourke Street in 1967. The store has been in its current location in the Assembly Hall on Collins Street since 1990. The 63 recipients of this year’s program will be presented at a ceremony at Melbourne Town Hall on 24 August.
