Authors announced for Adelaide Writers’ Week
Adelaide Writers’ Week has announced the line-up for its 2016 festival.
Among the international guests are US neuroscientist and author of Still Alice (S&S) Lisa Genova, French author of The Elegance of the Hedgehog (Gallic Books) Muriel Barbery, travel writer Simon Winchester (UK), journalist Masha Gessen (RUS), Paolo Bacigalupi (US), Patrick deWitt (CAN), Etgar Keret (ISR) and Andrew O’Hagan (UK).
Local writers include Charlotte Wood, Tim Flannery, Kerry O’Brien, Magda Szubanski, Annabel Crabb, Kate Grenville, Drusilla Modjeska, George Megalogenis, Lucy Treloar, Gerald Murnane and Gail Jones.
Entertaining the children over the festival’s Kids’ Weekend are Andy Griffiths and Maisy creator Lucy Cousins.
Director Laura Kroetsch said her fifth festival is based around the themes of ‘memory, mavericks and strong women’.
Adelaide Writers’ Week will run from 27 February to 3 March at the Pioneer Women’s Memorial Garden as part of the Adelaide Festival. The full program will be released in late January. For more information, visit the website here.
