Bonnier Australia to close its distribution centre, relocate office

Bonnier Publishing Australia, which includes the Five Mile Press and Echo Publishing imprints, will close its Five Mile Press distribution centre and relocate its Scoresby office to the inner-city Melbourne suburb of Richmond.

TL Distribution will take over warehousing, customer service and accounts receivable services for Bonnier Australia in Australia and New Zealand, with the Five Mile Press distribution centre accepting returns until 1 July and orders until 13 July. Staff will relocate to the new Richmond office on 15 August.

Bonnier Publishing Group CEO Richard Johnson said Bonnier Australia, which was announced as the ‘consolidation’ of the company’s Australian businesses in November last year, ‘gives us the platform to deliver our ambitious plans for the Australian and New Zealand markets which will ultimately see our division in Australia double in size, mirroring what we have achieved in the UK in the last two years’. ‘We intend to invest heavily to achieve that goal,’ said Johnson.

Bonnier Australia CEO Natasha Besliev said: ‘We’re proud of our heritage, but we’re not bound by any particular mould and so we’re excited to be starting a new chapter with a new name and new premises.’

‘We’re looking forward to moving to our lovely new space in Richmond, although it’s sad to say goodbye to our long-serving warehouse colleagues,’ said Besliev. ‘I really appreciate all their hard work and dedication to excellent customer care and I know their commitment will last through to the final book leaving the shelf.’

Five Mile Press currently distributes Rockpool Publishing. Its distribution arrangement with Slattery Media Group ended on 18 May, with Slattery now distributed by the Australian Fishing Network.
