ABA appoints conference coordinator, announces new staff roles

The Australian Booksellers Association (ABA) has appointed Helen Papadimitriou as its 2017 conference and trade exhibition coordinator following the departure of marketing and conference manager Steve Jones.

ABA CEO Joel Becker said he was ‘delighted that Helen is joining the ABA’. ‘She comes to us with a wealth of experience, having spent seven years running the Victorian Optometrists Association Southern Regional Congress.’ Papadimitriou also assisted the ABA in the lead-up to its 2015 conference.

The ABA has also adjusted the roles of other staff, effective from January. Robyn Huppert will be manager of communications and marketing, Kal Tripathi will be manager of finance and IT, and Mel Broere will be member services and marketing officer.

‘As well as some shifting of responsibilities, these changes recognise the significant contributions already made by the dedicated ensemble that make up our staff,’ said Becker. ‘I congratulate them for their ongoing efforts on behalf of our bookselling community, and am very enthusiastic about the contributions they will be making in 2017.’
