Nielsen survey finds 75% of Australian adults interested in Amazon Australia
A Nielsen survey has found 75% of Australians aged 18 years and older are interested in Amazon Australia, and 56% say they are likely to purchase from an Australian Amazon site.
The survey of just over 1500 adults showed that younger and male Australian shoppers are more likely to be interested in shopping at Amazon Australia.
Books (61%) was the second most likely product to be purchased on a local Amazon site, after electronic goods (67%). Among the benefits cited by respondents were cheap prices, free and fast delivery, and a range of products and brands.
Forty-five percent of respondents said they would be willing to pay to become an Amazon Prime member, which provides special deals, discounts and delivery perks.
Amazon hasn’t confirmed its plan to set up Australian operations. In January, Business Insider Australia reported the company was hiring software development roles in Brisbane for Amazon’s grocery delivery service AmazonFresh.
