ALS Gold Medal 2017 shortlist announced

The shortlist for the 2017 Australian Literature Society (ALS) Gold Medal has been announced.
The shortlisted titles are:
- The Easy Way Out (Steven Amsterdam, Hachette)
- Between a Wolf and a Dog (Georgia Blain, Scribe)
- Ghostspeaking (Peter Boyle, Vagabond)
- Music and Freedom (Zoe Morrison, Vintage)
- The Museum of Modern Love (Heather Rose, A&U)
- Ruins (Rajith Savandasa, Hachette).
The six titles were selected from a longlist of 12 announced in February this year. The winner will be announced on the opening night of the 2017 Association for the Study of Australian Literature (ASAL) conference, to be held in Melbourne from 11-14 July.
The ALS Gold Medal is awarded annually by ASAL for a ‘work of outstanding literary merit’ published in the previous calendar year. Last year’s winner was Brenda Niall’s biography Mannix (Text).
