Rolfe wins 2017 Mary Gilmore Award

Aden Rolfe has won the 2017 Mary Gilmore Award for his poetry collection False Nostalgia (Giramondo).

The award was presented by the Association for the Study of Australian Literature (ASAL) at its annual conference in Melbourne for best first book of poetry published in the past two calendar years.

Rolfe’s work was chosen from a shortlist of four titles announced in April. False Nostalgia ‘explores the interaction of memory, identity and narrative—in particular, the relationship between what we remember and the stories we tell about ourselves’.

More information about the Mary Gilmore Award can be found on the ASAL website here.
