‘ABR’ announces Elizabeth Jolley Short Story Prize shortlist
The Australian Book Review (ABR) has announced the shortlist for the 2017 Elizabeth Jolley Short Story Prize.
The shortlisted works and their authors are:
- ‘The Leaching Layer’ by Dominic Amerena
- ‘Butter’ by Lauren Aimee Curtis
- ‘Pheidippides’ by Eliza Robertson.
More than 1200 entries from 42 countries were received. The judging panel comprised ABR deputy editor Amy Baillieu and authors Ellen van Neerven and Chris Flynn.
The judges also commended three other stories from the longlist: ‘Contributory Negligence’ by Stevi-Lee Alver, ‘The Man I Should Have Married’ by Catherine Chidgey and ‘The Fog Harvester’ by Marie Gethins. The three authors each receive $850 and publication of their stories in ABR.
The winner, who will receive $7500, will be announced at an event at Potts Point Bookshop on 10 August.
