‘The Lifted Brow’ & RMIT non/fictionLab Prize for Experimental Nonfiction longlist announced

Melbourne-based publisher and literary magazine the Lifted Brow has announced the longlist for its Prize for Experimental Nonfiction.

The longlisted works are:

• ‘Hasard Objectif’ by Joanna Walsh
• ‘Atlantis Minor’ by Ben Walter
• ‘How to find the definition of the word “arbitrary” using JavaScript’ by Alice Allan
• ‘Carbon Copy’ by Scott Sandwich
• ‘The Essentials’ by Lei Wang
• ‘Surrealism, Feminism, Négritude: The Forest for the Trees’ by Terese Svoboda
• ‘Pray between the Lines’ by Fernando Quigua
• ‘Total Recall’ by Samantha Giles
• ‘New World Cache by mathematically resolved Science Theory Fiction with Feeling and Politics coded in Deep’ by Holly Childs
• ‘Four Maps of Dights Falls’ by Harry Saddler
• ‘Where does it hurt? 20 stories of pain based on the McGill index’ by Sinéad Gleeson
• ‘Missing Persona’ by Caitlynn Martinez-McWhorter
• ‘An Architecture of Early Motherhood (and Independence) ’ by Stephanie Guest and Kate Riggs
• ‘Doughnut’ by Astrid Lorange and Justin Clemens
• ‘Parts, Sum, &’ by Letta Neely
• ‘Self-Checkout’ by Fiona Murphy.

The winner, who will be announced in the next issue of the Lifted Brow in September, will receive $5000. Two runners-up will each receive $500.

The Experimental Nonfiction Prize seeks to ‘unearth new, audacious, authentic and/or inauthentic voices’ from Australia and around the world. Almost 300 entries were received for the award.
