CHASS Australia Book Prize 2017 longlist announced

The Council for the Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences (CHASS) has announced the longlist for the 2017 Australia Book Prize.
The prize, worth $3500, is part of the CHASS Australia Prizes program, which aims to draw international attention to Australia’s achievements in the humanities, arts and social sciences.
The longlisted titles are:
- The Conservative Human Rights Revolution: European Identity, Transnational Politics, and the Origins of the European Convention (Marco Duranti, OUP)
- The Art of Time Travel: Historians and Their Craft (Tom Griffiths, Black Inc.)
- Position Doubtful: Mapping Landscapes and Memories (Kim Mahood, Scribe)
- From the Edge: Australia’s Lost Histories (Mark McKenna, MUP)
- Evatt: A Life (John Murphy, NewSouth)
- Atomic Thunder: The Maralinga Story (Elizabeth Tynan, NewSouth).
A shortlist will be released later this month. The winner will be announced at the 2017 CHASS Australia Prizes Dinner on 10 October in Melbourne.
