Gilbert Adair, novelist and film critic, has died aged 66. Adair's works include the 'Evadne Mount' trilogy, and Flickers: A History of the Cinema in 100 Images.  Three of his books were made into films--Love and Death on Long Island, The Holy Innocents and A Closed Book.
