Tredinnick wins Cardiff International Poetry Competition
Australian poet Mark Tredinnick has won first place in the 2012 Cardiff International Poetry Competition for his poem ‘Margaret River Sestets’.
Tredinnick was announced as the winner of the competition earlier this month and he will receive a £5000 (A$7500) cash prize. Welsh poet Jonathan Edwards (‘Evel Knievel Jumps Over My Family’) won second place, worth £500 (A$750), and London poet Harry Man (‘Lost Ordinance, Sussex, 1943’) won third prize, worth £250 (A$375).
The three winning poems will be published in Welsh literary journal New Welsh Review in September. The poems are also available online here.
As previously reported by Bookseller+Publisher, Tredinnick won the inaugural Montreal International Poetry Prize, worth approximately $48,500, at the end of last year for his poem ‘Walking Underwater’.
