Sherwin-Stark appointed Bloomsbury Australia MD

Bloomsbury has announced that Louise Sherwin-Stark has been appointed as managing director of Bloomsbury Sydney.

Sherwin-Stark, who is currently ebookstore merchandiser for Google Australia, will begin in the role on 5 November. She takes over the role from Kathleen Farrar, who is relocating to the UK to take up the position of Bloomsbury Group sales and marketing director in January 2013.

Farrar said in a statement she is ‘delighted to welcome Louise to Bloomsbury’ and said Sherwin-Stark will bring with her ‘a wealth of experience in publishing in the UK and Australian markets’. ‘Her knowledge of the Australian trade and her passion for great books made her a standout candidate to take over the role of managing director for us in Sydney’.

Sherwin-Stark said she hopes to ‘continue to fantastic work done by Kathleen in the last couple of years to cement Bloomsbury as a brand guaranteed to publish wonderful books for Australian and New Zealand readers and booksellers’. ‘For many years I’ve been impressed by Bloomsbury’s approach to publishing some of the best loved and most acclaimed books in recent years,’ said Sherwin-Stark. ‘Their stable of award-winning authors is to be envied, and their dedication to publishing all of their authors with flair and passion is to be admired.’

Before joining Google Australia in October 2011, Sherwin-Stark was sales and marketing director at Hachette.
