Nielsen BookScan reveals top Oz authors in indie bookstores over Christmas

Ever wondered which Australian authors are the most bankable in indie bookstores over Christmas?

Nielsen BookScan has put together a list of Australian authors who have appeared the most times in the Independent Top 20 chart over Christmas since 2006.

Four authors share the top spot with four appearances apiece. Three of these are children’s authors: Andy Griffiths (2007, 2008, 2010, 2011), Jackie French (2006, 2007, 2009, 2011) and Graeme Base (2006, 2008, 2010, 2011). The fourth is Alex Miller (2007, 2009, 2010, 2011).

Other authors to make the list, with three appearances apiece, are:

In fiction: Christos Tsiolkas (2008, 2009, 2011), Kate Grenville (2006, 2008, 2011), Peter Temple (2007, 2009, 2010), Matthew Reilly (2007, 2009, 2011), Monica McInerney (2007, 2010, 2011) and Craig Silvey (2009, 2010, 2011).

In nonfiction: Shannon Lush and Jennifer Fleming (2006 – two appearances for Speedcleaning and Spotless, 2007), Tim Flannery (2006, 2008, 2010), Kim McCosker and Rachael Bermingham (2007, 2008 – two appearances for 4 Ingredients and 4 Ingredients 2) and Simon Thomsen and Joanna Savill, authors of the Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide (2007, 2008, 2009).

In children’s books:  Markus Zusak (2006, 2008, 2009).
