HarperCollins Worldwide acquires full ownership of HarperCollins India
HarperCollins Worldwide has announced that it has acquired full ownership of HarperCollins India, the joint venture it established with Living Media India in 2003. The publisher said in a statement at the end of November that the term of its partnership with Living Media has come to an end and HarperCollins India is now a wholly-owned subsidiary of HarperCollins Worldwide. CEO and president of HarperCollins Worldwide Brian Murray said in the statement that HarperCollins has ‘enjoyed a successful joint venture relationship’ with Living Media, and taking full ownership of HarperCollins India is ‘another way to expand the reach of our author’s works’. ‘As the second-largest English-speaking country in the world, we see India as an area of growth both for titles from all our global imprints being published into the region, as well as for local Indian authors being published in other markets through our HarperCollins 360 program,’ said Murray. Former CEO of HarperCollins Australia and New Zealand Michael Moynahan is currently a director of HarperCollins India’s board, a role he is due to leave at the end of this year.
