WH Smith opens dedicated children’s store at Melbourne Airport
UK bookselling chain WH Smith has opened a dedicated children’s store in the international terminal at Melbourne Airport.
The store, which opened on 15 December, is WH Smith’s first store under its new children’s brand Zoodle. The store is 120 sqm in size, with approximately one quarter of the store dedicated to books. The store also sells toys, games, craft products, stationery, travel products, baby care products and food and drinks.
A spokesperson for WH Smith told Bookseller+Publisher that the company is looking to open more Zoodle stores in travel locations in Australia. Two Zoodle stores will open at Manchester Airport in the UK in February.
WH Smith now operates 10 stores in Australia, six of which are located at airports (two in Sydney and four in Melbourne). As previously reported by Bookseller+Publisher, the bookselling chain also operates a store at Macarthur Square in Sydney, two stores at Southern Cross train station in Melbourne and one store at Melbourne Central train station.
