Asialink 2013 residencies announced

Asialink at the University of Melbourne has announced the recipients of its 2013 Arts Residencies.

The recipients of the Arts Management residencies related to writing, and the projects they will work on, are:

  • Chris Gallagher, India: Gallagher will work with New Delhi-based company Teamwork to help present the 2014 Jaipur Literary Festival.
  • Vicki Woods, Singapore: During her residency at the Arts House in Singapore, Woods will work in an artist liaison and logistics role for the 2013 Singapore Writers Festival and in a project management role for the 10 year anniversary celebrations of the Arts House.

 

The recipients of the Writing residencies, and the projects they will work on, are:

  • Alan Carter, China: During his residency at the Shanghai Writers’ Association, Carter will research and write his third crime fiction novel set partly in and around Shanghai.
  • Leanne Hall, China: Hall will use her time at Peking University in Beijing to research and begin writing a young adult fantasy novel that focuses on ‘real and virtual migrations and connections between China and the Chinese diaspora in the West’.
  • Rebecca Griggs, Japan: Griggs will spend her residency at the Association for the Study of Literature and the Environment in Okinawa, working on a project related to comparative environmentalism and animals.
  • Samia Khatun, Pakistan: At the Lahore University of Management Sciences, Khatun will ‘explore the milieu of Pakistani English language literature that has recently attracted international acclaim’ as well as ‘build relationships of exchange and collaboration with writers in Pakistan’.
  • Paul Brown, India: Brown will use his residency at Katyayani Theatre Group in New Delhi to work on a documentary drama about New Delhi.
