Arts Victoria announces latest arts development grants

Arts Victoria has announced its latest round of Arts Development grants.
In all, 56 new projects received funding as part of the grants program, which supports Victoria’s independent professional artists and arts organisations.
Several writers were among the recipients. They are:
- Bonny Cassidy ($8000): for the development of the final draft of a narrative poem that explores themes of climate change
- Courtney Collins ($11,000): for the development of a new Australian gothic novel
- Chris Flynn ($12,000): for the development of a novel about a retired soldier working in a carnival as it travels up the East coast of Australia
- Melanie Joosten ($10,000): for the development of a novel about a family, set in Ballarat during the summer of 2000
- Elmo Keep ($10,500): for the development of a memoir about a father who lived a double life
- Lea McInerney ($4000): for the development of three personal essays
- David Sornig ($15,000): for the development of a novel about a Jewish exile and a contemporary English gentleman.
Several publishers and literary journals were also awarded grants. They are:
- Ilura Press Pty ($6500): for the development and publication of a collection of letters written during an artist’s time volunteering in Swaziland in a struggle against AIDS/HIV and poverty.
- Australian Book Review ($10,000): for the commissioning of new writing including reviews, essays, fiction and poetry, which will be published in print and online.
- Cordite Press ($12,000): for the presentation of four issues of a publication of poetry essays and reviews involving established and emerging Victorian writers.
- Going Down Swinging ($20,000): for the presentation of a collection of literature, performance, and visual art, which will be presented both in print and as a digital publication as well as through live events.
