Booku to stay open

Online bookseller Boomerang Books has reversed its decision to close its ebookstore Booku, announcing this week that the store will continue to trade.

As previously reported by Books+Publishing, Boomerang Books said earlier this month that Booku would close on 30 June. The company said that the site had not been ‘generating sufficient sales’ and it had ‘become commercially unviable for us to continue to trade’.

Boomerang Books said in a statement on 28 June that ‘with renewed optimism, we’ve now reversed our earlier decision and we’re going to keep Booku open’. ‘Since the announcement, we’ve had lots of feedback from customers asking us not to close [and] we’ve seen a spike in sales.’

As an apology for any inconvenience to customers caused by the closure announcement, Booku is offering a 10% discount on any ebook purchases before 5 July.

As previously reported by Books+Publishing, both Booku and Boomerang Books were advertised for sale in March this year.
