Penguin launches teen readers website

Penguin Australia has launched a new website for teenage readers.

Penguin Teen Australia, which was launched this month, replaces teen blogs that Penguin has been running for the past six years.

‘The aim of Penguin Teen is to be a destination for discovery for teen readers,’ Penguin marketing manager Felicity Vallence told Books+Publishing. ‘A place where they’ll find unique and interesting shareable content about what’s going on in the world of teen books.’

The website features stories such as ‘3 New YA Dudes to Crush On’, celebrity cover lookalikes and book-to-film adaptations. It also includes information about forthcoming releases and author signings, as well as opportunities to attend events and win prizes.

Visitors to the website are encouraged to comment and share stories on social media. ‘We hope teens will embrace the site in a number of ways including discussing their favourite books,’ said Vallence. ‘We know from our research that the desire to not only learn about new YA reads, but discuss teens books with like-minded readers is incredibly important and with a vibrant and active online Australian YA community, we wanted to offer readers another avenue to do so.’
